Effective Date: April 12, 2026 | Version 2
Troth is for adults 18 and older seeking serious romantic connection or long-term partnership. Troth welcomes users across genders, sexual orientations, identities, and relationship structures, including monogamous and consensually non-monogamous users. Some features, filters, and safety tools vary based on consent, compatibility settings, and member protection. By using Troth, you agree to these Terms, our Community Standards, our Privacy Policy, and any feature-specific rules we link inside the app.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Troth. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We may require age verification at any time. If we determine you are under 18, your account will be terminated immediately and any associated data will be deleted.
Troth is not available where prohibited by applicable law. By using Troth, you represent that your use complies with all laws applicable to you.
These Terms incorporate the following documents by reference. By agreeing to these Terms, you also agree to each:
Feature-specific consent rules are linked inside the app when applicable. If any linked page is not yet published, it will be linked upon release.
You are responsible for your account and all activity that occurs through it. Keep your credentials secure. Do not share your login with others.
You may not:
We may require identity or age verification at any time. Providing false information during verification is grounds for immediate termination.
Troth may use profile information, stated preferences, compatibility assessments, verification signals, behavioral trust signals, moderation outcomes, and linked-profile consent records to rank, filter, limit, or remove access to matches and features. These systems are designed to improve fit and safety. They are not diagnoses, not background checks, not guarantees of identity or intent, and not promises of relationship success.
Your position in matching results may be affected by trust signals derived from your behavioral history, reports received, account standing, and other factors described in our Community Standards. We do not guarantee that any match will result in a connection, conversation, or relationship.
Each adult must maintain their own account. Linked profiles, shared dating modes, and dating-together badges are created only when each linked adult separately consents from their own account. Any linked adult may revoke consent or unlink at any time. Unlinking or deleting one account may dissolve linked features or related badges. No user may create, control, or speak for another adult's account without explicit authorization from that adult and support from Troth.
Coercion around linked-profile creation, maintenance, or consent is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in suspension or permanent removal.
You own the content you post on Troth. By posting content, you grant Troth a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and provide the service.
This license ends within a reasonable time after you delete your content or account, except as retained for:
We do not sell your content to third parties as defined in our Privacy Policy. We may remove content that violates these Terms at any time without prior notice.
You may not harass, threaten, stalk, extort, blackmail, impersonate, dox, deadname, out, fetishize, coerce, financially solicit, or otherwise exploit another member. You may not use bots, scripts, synthetic identities, AI-generated personas, misleading media, or other automation to create, run, or scale accounts. You may not bypass safety systems, rate limits, moderation tools, or verification steps. We may investigate, remove content, limit visibility, restrict features, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve relevant records, and report material to service providers, clearinghouses, or authorities where required by law or safety policy.
Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to:
You can report any member for conduct that violates these Terms or our Community Standards. Blocking prevents further contact. Reporting submits conduct for review. These are independent actions.
We investigate reports in accordance with our moderation policies. Outcomes may include warnings, content removal, feature restrictions, account suspension, or permanent termination. High-severity reports (including threats, non-consensual image sharing, financial coercion, and suspected minor involvement) receive priority review.
We preserve records relevant to reports for safety purposes and may share them with law enforcement, clearinghouses, or safety services where required by law or safety policy.
Enforcement decisions are based on the totality of available information. Where an appeal process is available, we will communicate it to you at the time of the enforcement action.
Troth has zero tolerance for the sexual exploitation of minors. Any account found to be posting, distributing, or soliciting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be immediately terminated, reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and referred to law enforcement.
You must be 18 or older to use Troth. Attempting to contact minors through Troth, misrepresenting your age, or facilitating romantic or sexual contact between minors and adults is strictly prohibited.
Our full Child Safety Standards are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We encourage you to read it fully.
Key protections:
Where applicable law provides rights (including access, correction, portability, restriction, and deletion), those rights are honored as described in our Privacy Policy.
Troth offers several account states that are distinct from deletion:
Pausing, hiding, or entering Focus Mode is not deletion. Your data remains on our servers until you choose to delete your account.
*Paid features are not yet live. This section will be updated with complete billing terms, refund policies, and subscription management details when paid plans launch. Those terms will be incorporated into these Terms upon publication.*
Troth is provided as-is and as-available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, uptime, error-free operation, or continued availability of any feature. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with or without notice.
Troth cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, conduct, compatibility, or safety of any member. Matching signals, trust scores, verification badges, and compatibility assessments are tools designed to improve outcomes, not guarantees of safety, identity, intent, or relationship success. Exercise your own judgment before meeting anyone in person and review our Safety Tips.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Troth's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid Troth in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
In no event will Troth be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of data, or reputational harm, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where applicable law does not permit such limitation, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury.
Informal Resolution First. Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@troth.app with a written description of the dispute and your proposed resolution. You give us 30 days to attempt informal resolution before initiating formal proceedings.
Binding Arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Troth (except as excluded below) will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by these Terms. Arbitration is conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class Action Waiver. You and Troth each waive the right to participate in class actions, class-wide arbitrations, consolidated proceedings, or representative proceedings of any kind. All disputes must be brought individually.
Opt-Out. You may opt out of binding arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by sending a written notice to legal@troth.app with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out." Your opt-out applies only to arbitration and does not affect any other provision of these Terms.
Small Claims. Either party may bring an eligible individual claim in small claims court in the jurisdiction where you reside, in lieu of arbitration.
Injunctive Relief. Either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm, pending resolution by arbitration. Seeking such relief does not waive the right to arbitration for the underlying dispute.
Venue for Non-Arbitrable Matters. For any claims not subject to arbitration (including challenges to the arbitrability of a dispute), you consent to personal jurisdiction and exclusive venue in the state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will notify you in the app and provide a grace period (typically 10 days) before re-agreement is required. Continued use of Troth after the grace period constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The current version of these Terms is always available inside the app and at the web Terms of Service page.
