Nonconsensual Intimate Image Removal Requests
Effective May 10, 2026
If intimate images of you have been shared on Northgiven without your consent — including real images, altered images, AI-generated images, deepfakes, or screenshots — you can request their removal here. You do not need to be a Northgiven user to file a request.
Northgiven aims to remove validly reported content, plus known identical copies on the platform, within 48 hours of receiving a valid request.
What This Covers
This process applies to intimate images or sexual content involving you that was shared without your consent, including:
- Real photographs or video
- Edited or digitally altered images
- AI-generated images or deepfakes
- Screenshots of private messages or video calls
- Sexual content originally shared in confidence
If the content involves someone under 18, see the NCMEC resources below — that is treated as a child safety matter and handled separately under our Child Safety Standards.
How to Submit a Request
You do not need a Northgiven account. Anyone can file a removal request.
Step 1: Email safety@northgiven.com
Use the subject line: NCII Removal Request
Step 2: Include the following in your email
- Your name (first and last)
- Your contact email address
- A description of the content (what it shows, when it may have been taken or shared)
- Where you saw it on Northgiven — include the username, profile link, or conversation ID if you have it. You can also include a URL or timestamp. Do not attach the image itself.
- Whether you are the person depicted or filing on behalf of someone else (if filing on behalf of another adult, include your relationship and their consent)
Step 3: We will confirm receipt
You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours acknowledging your request is under review.
Step 4: We act
Northgiven reviews the request and, if valid, removes the reported content and any known identical copies from the platform within 48 hours of confirmation.
What Happens After You Submit
- Confirmation: You receive an email confirming we received your request, typically within 24 hours.
- Review: We review the request to confirm the content falls within scope.
- Removal: Valid content is removed within 48 hours of a valid submission. We also remove known identical copies on the platform.
- Follow-up: If we need more information to process your request, we will email you. Providing more detail speeds up the process.
- Outcome: We will notify you when the content has been removed, or explain why a request could not be fulfilled.
Your Privacy
Northgiven handles removal requests with care and discretion.
- You do not need to upload, attach, or send us the intimate image itself. Descriptions, usernames, URLs, and timestamps are sufficient for us to identify and act on content.
- Your removal request is treated as confidential. We do not share your identity or the details of your request with the reported user.
- We may preserve evidence of the reported content and associated account activity as required by applicable law before or after removal. This is a legal obligation and does not mean the content remains accessible to users.
Emergency or Ongoing Threats
If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
If someone is actively threatening to share images, documenting the threat (screenshots, messages) may help law enforcement. You can also report the account in-app using the report button on any profile or conversation.
External Resources
- StopNCII.org — for adults: report intimate images at risk of being shared online. Uses hashing technology to prevent distribution across participating platforms without you sending the image.
- NCMEC Take It Down — if the images were taken when you were under 18: free service to help remove or stop the spread of images involving minors.
